During the month of November, the LIFE 4DOÑANA solution was presented at meetings number 43 and 44 of the Ethical Trade Forums entitled “Following the Water and Carbon footprints of the agri-food sector”, which were held in Huelva and Almería respectively.
In these events, which bring together representatives of the main fruit and vegetable producing and importing companies from each of the mentioned areas, they reflect on the advantages and disadvantages of the different methodologies for calculating these indicators, based on real experiences. . In addition, the sessions are completed with workshops that include practical exercises. In this context, GIESA presented the LIFE 4DOÑANA project solution as a support tool when computing the Water Footprint of crops.
The possibility of accurately measuring the consumption of water and fertilizers used in the crop, as well as having real references of the needs of the crops in the conditions of the plot, make the on-demand irrigation solution of the Project a perfect option for be able to carry out in the producing companies.
